The Art of Graphing

Uzma Issa, Harvard University & Advaith Vadlakonda, Boston College

Course Description

If graphing and visualizing mathematical data sounds interesting to you, you definitely cannot miss this course! In this course, we will go over various types of graphs, experiment with their characteristics, and use them together to create art. Types of graphs that will be covered are linear, polynomial, exponential, root functions, logarithmic, trigonometric, and conic sections. For each of these graphs, we will learn how to identify the equations, draw the graphs, and manipulate their characteristics. You will then work on a fun project to apply the skills that you learned, incorporating multiple types of graphs together to design art however you like. Finally, we will also introduce applications to calculus. The softwares that we will use are Desmos and WolframAlpha.
