Introduction to Biomedical Engineering

Meghana Sridhar & Ashtyn Cauffman, Georgia Tech

Course Description

The world is progressing at a fast pace, and the intersection of biology and engineering, also known as biomedical engineering, is an upcoming and popular field of study. This course aims to present high-level exposure to biomedical engineering. The course offers an introduction to approaching clinical problems through the lens of an analytical and user-focused engineering approach. In the summer term, students will have the opportunity to walk through the design process with the ideation of an original medical device in teams. In the end, individuals will be able to confidently translate an engineered device to address a unique clinical problem with the support of associated/learned engineering principles.
