Making of Capitalism

About the Course

This course addresses capitalism in a global perspective to identify the roots of our current economic system. We will consider the history of capitalism, the politics and policies of its implementation, and its human and environmental consequences. By embedding the ‘market’ in the context of social relations, cultural practices, and institutional arrangements, we will learn how capitalism developed in specific historical circumstances.
